Ghawth al-A`zam
Shaykh `Abdul Qadir al-Jilani
Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim
From good and righteous parents came a rose without a thorn
Signs of sainthood were evident in him when he was born
Fasting from his mother's milk in the days of Ramadan
Al-Hasani wal Husayni Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan

In search of sacred knowledge, his provisions on the quest:
The coat of truthfulness - a heart of gold hid in his chest
Thus the robbers repented at his hands at Hamadan
Reviver of the Religion Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan

Through Allah's Grace he arrived in the city of Baghdad
Receiving from Qadi Abu Sa`id and Shaykh Hammad
He took from many masters and this marked a blessed dawn
The Hanbali authority Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan

At his feet beneficial knowledge could be acquired
Seekers flocked to his sessions and became awe-inspired
You would not hear one clear their throat, sniffle their nose or yawn
The Shafi`i authority Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan
Naf`anAllahu bih!

He'll turn your focus to Allah, and cleanse your heart from rust
Content with his Lord's Decree, and in Him he placed his trust
In following the Prophet 
he's the perfect paragon
The bless'd son of the sweet belov'd Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan

He preached taqwa of Allah, Whom he faithfully obeyed
Followed the Qur'an and Sunnah from which he never strayed
He spread the remembrance of Allah, thwarting the shaytan
He's the Grey Falcon flying high Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan
Naf`anAllahu bih!

Majestic and unique in his spiritual oration
Courageously against heretical innovation
Respecting the sacred he was one of Allah's swords drawn
The axis stablished by the Lord Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan
Naf`anAllahu bih!

His foot, on the necks of the saints, all of whom he's vested
Across the lands to this proclamation they attested
Fortunate for the friends of Allah, he is their sultan!
He is the sultan of the saints Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan
Naf`anAllahu bih!

"He was born in love, grew in perfection, and met his Lord
in the perfection of love", may God increase his reward
"To the realm of Divine Beauty the noble Shaykh passed on"
The supreme spiritual helper Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan

In eulogies esteem for him is lovingly expressed
His spiritual path has spread far and wide from east to west
Still faithfully followed though from this worldly life he's gone
Our leader Abu Muhammad Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan

O Allah on Your Chosen One, confer blessings and peace
On his Family and Companions, grant them all increase
On the Followers and the Friends of Allah and upon
All of those who love our master Shaykh `Abdul Qadir of Jilan
